Joining for advertising purposes only

This is a warning to all those who join the forum only for the purposes of advertising some sort of product/event.

Your account (and all your posts) will be deleted as soon as I become aware of them.

If your signature block contains a link to a commercial sales site (especially for items such as knuckle dusters) I will not even blink. I'll assume the worst and you'll be toast.

If you join to advertise your seminar in outrageously self-promoting terms ("the greatest... yadda yadda") you will meet a similar fate.

This is a serious forum for those wanting to contribute. Seminar announcements and links to your own sites are welcome - so long as they aren't the only reason you're posting.

A reminder that new members should read this thread before posting.

Only material that is amenable to a discussion is suitable.

Members must avoid posting material that is, or might be mistaken, for advertising purposes only, or material that is otherwise largely self-promoting. This does not preclude members from promoting a specific event or giving information about what they study - it merely precludes crass commercialism and ham-fisted grand-standing.

Material that contravenes this requirement will be deleted. Members who contravene this requirement will have their membership reviewed and, if circumstances warrant it, cancelled.
